KE joined World The World Theater DAy


Kabpapagariya Ensemble joins World Theatre Week – Kalahi Caregiving March 25-29, 2009


World Theatre Week, an inter-agency committee led by NCCA is set to conduct its 2nd Creativity Summit on Kalahi Cultural Care-giving on the UN MDGs from March 25 to 29. It aims to gather artists and teachers, cultural workers and scholars, peace and human rights advocates, and tourism and information officers of local government units for an intercultural, interfaith exchange in a festival-conference and interdisciplinary theater workshops for bio-cultural diversity.
The six selected models for the summit are: (from Mindanao) Mindanao State University Sining Kadidilimudan from Maguindanao and Kabpapagariya Ensemble from General Santos; (from Visayas) Maribojoc Punta Cruz Cultural Collective of Bohol and the Cebu Pasundayag Cultural Network and Kapunungan Ni ‘Noy Kiko; and (from Luzon) Consortium of Young Artists and Indigenous Group from Isabela and participants in the aborning Baler Academy for Performance and Media Arts.
For World Theatre Day, the International Theatre Institute (ITI) with NCCA and OPAC is set to recognize the 14 regional culture-friendly local government officials and give six special citations for the Mayors of National Capital Region as well as culture-friendly media organizations and outstanding artists with golden years of service
KE performed “Dula Ta”, a play that depicts the effects of war to women and children
